Roy Bennett, Teaching Elder
Roy Bennett is a third-generation Californian with a colorful athletic resume. He traveled extensively in his twenties and came to faith in Christ from a background in eastern philosophy. He is a graduate of Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia and Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. He has pastored churches in the United States and Canada and is an experienced church planter and ordained Teaching Elder of the Presbyterian Church in America. Roy lives in Ojai with his wife, Norma, and two daughters.
Robert Glass, Ruling Elder
Robert Glass has Canadian family roots in Saint Catharines, Ontario, but moved to the United States in 1977. Robert is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University. He currently serves as the Director of Engineering and Quality at the Raypak Inc. in Oxnard, California. Robert was previously an ordained PCA Deacon in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. He was ordained as a Ruling Elder in 2006 and is the current Clerk of Session for Christ Church Ventura. Robert and his wife, Debbie, have recently returned to their family farm in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where they are close to their daughter and son who are students at Covenant College

Eric Halvorson, Ruling Elder
Eric Halvorson grew up in Wisconsin. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from Bob Jones University and received his J.D. degree from Duke University School of Law. He practiced corporate law for twelve years as a certified public accountant, before working as an executive with Salem Communications. Eric has also taught courses at the Pepperdine School of Law and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Thomas Kinkade Company. Eric lives in Camarillo with his wife, Dianne, close to their two married daughters and their families.
Roger Phelps, Ruling Elder
Roger was born and raised in California. He has worked in Ojai as an Optometrist for well over thirty years. Roger has served as Moderator of the Pacific Presbytery and is currently on the Candidates and Credentials Committee of that Presbytery. He is an adjunct assistant clinical Professor of Optometry, and lectures nationally and internationally as a Certified Diabetes Educator on the prevention of blindness from diabetes. He lives in Ojai with his wife, Marcia. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.
David Sveiven, Deacon
David is our first ordained Deacon at Christ Church Ventura. He comes from a family of school teachers and has taken his place in that same vocation teaching math at Oxnard High School for over seventeen years. David is a graduate of Liberty University in Virginia where he majored in mathematics and minored in youth ministries. He has also served as the high school golf coach for several years. David and his wife of twenty-five years, Michele, live in Ventura with their four sons
Tilford Jackson, Chief Musician
Tilford Jackson received his formal training in Composition at the University of South Carolina. Over the years his ability to play with a wide variety of musical artists, experience in orchestral conducting, and his knack for improvisation, have fashioned an illustrious musical career. The styles have covered the gamut—R&B Soul, Rock, Jazz, Latin, and Classical. He has also served churches across the liturgical spectrum and comes well qualified to serve as chief musician at Christ Church Ventura. Tilford He is married to Tracy and is stepfather to her teenage son.
Debbie Glass, Office Manager
Originally from the Deep South, Debbie faithfully built up the body of Christ Church Ventura in California for seven years with her husband, Robert. Debbie studied Criminal Justice at Auburn University. She has traveled extensively and speaks fluent Spanish. Her leadership profile includes PresWIC President for both the Nashville and the Pacific Presbyteries. She has also been a marathon coach for 15 years and holds coaching certifications for marathons, cross-country, track, and personal training. Debbie and Robert have recently returned to their family farm in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where they are close to their daughter and son who are students at Covenant College.
